I was at NCC this Sunday again. To be fair, I was kindof prejudiced from the beginning when I heard the opening showmanship and not to mention a notion of the man's past. Pastor Mark Ng was on talking about something about love and the display of love. And how to be positive towards your child and all around you just as God is. I must say it had nothing to do with his poor command of the language but it was a mix of jokes, poor references to the bible and his own experience.(Not to mention a short suck up session to the senior pastor, but I'm sure Pastor Prince is a loving father but it was just some very bad reference and delivery.) It was undoubtedly entertaining but if I needed entertainment, I would have gone to the movies next door.
Nevertheless, I was reminded that words are from man but if turned by God, it might have touched the hearts of some parents there who in this competitive society have forgotten to treat their kids right. Also it also reminded me that in my eagerness to succeed and make something out of my life, I should never forget to show my love for those around me, especially my parents. Neither of them are christians. Kindof sad but I believe that God has his timing for me and for them. Just pray that when it comes my parents will say "Yes!" to God.
Do encourage those who go to church and don't feel the direct speech of God to remember it's only 1 man with 1 message, but God can speak to many in his own way so don't be discouraged and listen attentively to what God is saying instead of just that man on the stage.
