This is my second bad encounter with New Media Express the domain reg and hosting company. MyTradingPost.com.sg was ready on 4th March and we requested a change in the DNS of the domain to point to the our overseas hosting. This typically takes 24-48 hours. But until today, the domain still goes to the old hosting where we've hosted a file to do redirect to wordpress.
1) Why can't the company make dns change a feature on your hosting control panel so that the users can change it themselves?
2) Why does it take so long to change the DNS of the domain?
As I've found out hosting ANYTHING with New Media Express is just a death trap. They are expensive and refuses to cooperate as long as you do you want to or use their service for any reason. It's even worse if you try to move out of using their service like try to make a domain/hosting transfer. Not to mention service is only during office hours, so what happens if you need help after hours? And yet they continue to sit in the "Approved" vendors by IDA. How many more have to suffer?
Update: 12th March 2010
I've found the reason for the delay. THEY DIDN'T MAKE THE DNS CHANGE. My goodness... How did I find out? I made a WHOIS record printout on SGNIC and sent it to their admin. They replied that the report was probably mistaken and they did the change a week back, and voila, so I went to SGNIC again and this time, the DNS was changed!!!... That means all this time for the last week nothing was done. Wonder why they had to do that. Talk about sucks, scam, bad, and something so simple and they can't even get it right.
