ipad

About a week ago I was thinking about pre-ordering the iPad (wifi, cos the 3G only works with micro SIM card now) from Apple in the US and having it shipped over. But after much consideration, I think I'll just wait for the iPhone 4G instead. Here's a few reasons.

The iPad 16gb wifi will cost about SGD$900 to ship into Singapore (plus tax and shipping) I can easily buy an iPhone with that money.

  1. It doesn't work as a phone. Not even the 3G Version.
  2. It doesn't have a camera or web cam.
  3. Accessories are expensive.
  4. There are no USB ports.
  5. It is like a netbook version of a Mac. Means I can't do any iPhone/Pad app development work on it.
  6. Apps are about $10. Shucks that's expensive.
  7. I don't read ebooks, play casual games. Might use it for the news and read my google reader though. I don't watch videos on a 10" screen.
  8. It doesn't play Flash so you still can't play Facebook games on it unless an app was done. Flash on websites won't load on the iPad.
  9. I can do more work on a netbook.
  10. There's the Asus PC eee 101 MT that I think looks and works pretty cool.

So basically it's an iPhone without the phone and with apps that are 5x more expensive. But then again, if enough people buy it, I might just have to. Just like I'm buying and iPhone to figure what cool apps I can design for users. Want to buy an iPad? Drop me a comment.
