Profile of Startup Fund Raisers

E-mail Print PDF

I got this off a Mashable article and it's based mostly on US internet startups. I'm half way round the world in a different setting but will be doing the same thing of raising money for my startup(s) in the next coming months.

startupstats1

So 12% are Asians and apparently they raise the most money. 92% male and mixed teams raise the most money. Only 29% from the 26-34 age group. Most fund raisers are 35-44. 45% have a Master's degree and only 4% have not formal college degrees, contrary to the concept of the Bill Gates/Steve Jobs era during the fire in the valley.

Chinese (Asia), 30, and on my way to my post graduate degree aka the MBA. Hope I make it to my next round of fund raising. Compare this with my last posting of graduates wanting to be entrepreneurs. The stats in Singapore will be interesting.

Exams and Mobilizing Business

E-mail Print PDF

It's exam period for my MBA. Spend a lot of time studying. Have to also keep an eye on Gloplay. Will update a little on mobilizing your business when the exams are over. I've noticed that even with the abundance of easy to use technology and widespread (and often cheap) availability of connectivity on mobile devices, many businesses have not taken advantage of this flexibility to put their workforce or business on the mobile. With such mobility now we can really create the work-life balance that was once difficult to balance when we had to stay in the office to get work completed.

Is your business on mobile? PM me and share your experience.

Act in faith, dun get complacent and honor God's servants.

Last Sunday's message by Ps Chris Law was kind of interesting and weird at the same time. I haven't heard anyone preach a message in this combination before but at the same time it's very interesting thoughts about Christian values when sumed together makes complete sense.

  1. Act in Faith. This is kind of simple. Whatever you have/God has given to you, if you take it out and act in faith, God will multiple it and make something great with whatever little we have. I love this part. It means even if you have very very little. Whatever little you have, God can make it great. So go on and dream big...
  2. Hints of complacency. Don't let complacency creep into your life. It's the little foxes that break up your relationship with God. This is also kind of straight forward reminder not to get complacent once God has provided and blessed our lives. Don't forget about him and remember that everything we have is given by God.
  3. Finally this came quite out of the blue but I must say it's a useful message. Honor God's dying servant. Hmmm.... He mentioned something about not putting down people who are past their prime or not performing signs and wonders. Many times, we strike people who are past their prime or not performing and we mock them. Retired/long time pastors, workers, parents... It's really bad. He then talked about this man called Joseph of Arimathea. I never knew who he is but now I do. He's the man who wanted the "dead" Jesus. Does anybody want a "dead" Jesus? One who does not provide miracles? I guess most would not. But is our relationship with God solely based on his providence? It really is a reflection. If God doesn't give today will we still love him. Cos he loved us even when we didn't love him back.
Those were the 3 points. Disconnected in every way but meaningful in every way, also my source of reflection for the week.

End of the World Cup 2010.

E-mail Print PDF

The World Cup 2010 is finally over and I can finally get some nice and ordinary sleep, or try to get back to one. My prediction to win the cup didn't come through. I really thought the Germans would win it. But alas Spain, the curse of my World Cup predictions won for the first time. Maybe it's Paul, the score predicting octopus who cursed them. But I did win the little prediction league that a few of us were on, and $200 if Nar still remembers...

Close fight to the finish for me and Nigel and I finally ousted the guy who doesn't even watch a single match and based all his predictions on his knowledge of Fifa 10 on PS3 and stats from the news (I seriously doubt he reads any news though). So the project is now archived until the next challenge.

So long World Cup. See you in 4 years. Here's a clip of this World Cup's super star.
