Rewarding Life Online...
After a week with my iPad 64Gb wifi only, I've finally gotten over the initial difficulty with the Apple and iTunes interface and the button which keeps closing my apps and returning me to the main screen when I really meant to back up or call the menu page. I had some of my apps wiped once when iTunes synced and deleted my apps. The most damaging part being I have to replay Plants vs Zombies, and that really sucks. Here's what I recommend.
First thing to do. Jailbreak the machine... Why should you do this? Just do it if you want to get access to apps and stuff like installous. What does this do? Google it. So head over to jailbreakme.com and follow the onscreen instructions.
If you are used to multi-tasking and just can't stand your apps closing everytime you return to the main page. Get Backgrounder. My first 2 days without Backgrounder was really bad. I really thought that the iPad was a useless and expensive toy. But after I got this, I'm back in action. It's like having my books, and laptop on a 500gram device. It was really great. But this is only possible if you have jailbroken your iPad. Download this from Cydia
It's a close tie between the 2 applications but I use iBook a lot more than the Singtel Account application. (Of Course, who's so psycho to keep checking on their bandwidth usage/phone bill.). I'm reading Game-Based Marketing on the iPad and it's proved to be really useful to have it on pdf and viewable on a large screen that turns on and off in a sec. If you are into reading, I highly recommend that you use the iPad and get all your books on pdf.

The good thing about the Singtel Account application is that I can check on my bandwidth usage in an instant. I've recently gotten the multi-SIM for my phone plan and will need to check that I'm not exceeding the 1Gb that I'm allowed. It'll cost about $1 for every 5Mb there after or something like that. It's really expensive and I paid $20 extra for exceeding on one month. Also read my post on multi-SIM subscription before you get yours.

Oh yes if you have the iPad, you will definitely play games. Angry Birds, Plants vs Zombies etc... My favourite so far has been Heavy Mach 2. Relive my Battletech days. Come to think of it, someone should make a Battletech Boardgame on the iPad. In fact all the table top games like Lord of the Rings, Warhammer and stuff like that will fit really well on the iPad. Anyway, Heavy Mach is really a boys game. Mach up equip rocket launchers and tap away. Upgrade your Mach (the original term was Mech by the way) and blast town to town to complete your missions.

That's all for now. I've also pre-ordered my iPhone 4 and now waiting for it to arrive. I'm thinking about buying the Macbook and picking up some Objective C (I've gotten books downloaded to my iPad for that :) ). In the mean time, if you'll like something done on the iPhone/iPad. Feel free to contact me. I'll be able to fix up something with my buddy for you.
I got the iPad 64Gb wifi recently. Now I start to realise how much I am connected and multi-tasking, filling almost every second of my life with activities. The iPad comes with NO multi-tasking capability. Which means if I'm downloading an app, I cannot be doing anything else. Man... Took me like half a day to realise why my downloads keep failing. Not to mentione the convenient round button which returns me to the main page while conveniently closing whatever I was doing without saving has caused me a few frustrations.
But it's true, I now I realise how I'm like doing 10 things all at once while my mum/dad tries to talk to me at the same time (occasionally, I watch the TV as well, all at the same time). If they get multi-tasking on the iPad, I'll definitely get the 3G model. Until then... let me figure what this thing is good for.
I'm thinking about getting an iPhone 4 tomorrow. I've just checked the Singtel site for the MultiSIM VAS. Something that really struck me, the microSIM multiSIM subscription is about twice that of the USIM. Why is that? The microSIM is the exact same technology as the USIM just smaller in size. In fact if you used a cutter to cut the USIM into the size of the microSIM, it will work just fine. Why the price difference then? If they are going to charge me extra for the microSIM, I'm going to just get my own cutter and DIY. If they dun allow me to purchase the phone with a USIM, then I'm just going to another provider
If you are currently paying for multiSIM for your microSIM card at the higher price? Is this fair? This is really preying on consumer ignorance.
